PALMARES DES BAFTA 2017 DU CINEMA ANGLAIS

Le conte de fée continue pour La La Land. Après avoir été sacrée lors 
des Golden Globes, la comédie musicale a triomphé dimanche 12 février à Londres à l'occasion de la remise des récompenses britanniques du cinéma en remportant les Bafta du meilleur film, du meilleur réalisateur pour Damien Chazelle et de la meilleure actrice pour Emma Stone. Cette romance entre une aspirante actrice et un musicien de jazz, chantée et dansée par Emma Stone et Ryan Gosling part grand favori des Oscars avec 14 nominations.

Le film, qui a déjà rapporté plus de 270 millions de dollars dans le monde, s'est imposé devant Premier Contact, Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Moi, Daniel Blake pour remporter le Bafta (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) du meilleur film.

Du côté des femmes, le trophée de la meilleure actrice est tout naturellement revenu à Emma Stone. Elle s'est imposée devant Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins), Natalie Portman (Jackie), Amy Adams (Premier Contact) et Emily Blunt (La Fille du train). Chez les réalisateurs Damien Chazelle, 32 ans, s'est imposé devant Ken Loach, Denis Villeneuve, Kenneth Lonergan et Tom Ford.

Pour le meilleur second rôle féminin, c'est Viola Davis dans le drame américain Fences de Denzel Washington qui l'a emporté devant Nicole Kidman (Lion), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Hayley Squires (Moi, Daniel Blake) et Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea). Quant au Bafta du meilleur acteur, il a échappé à Ryan Gosling, le pianiste de jazz de La La Land, pour être attribué à l'Américain Casey Affleck, frère de Ben Affleck. Il interprète, avec subtilité, un tuteur déboussolé dans le drame Manchester by the Sea de Kenneth Lonergan qui a également obtenu le Bafta du meilleur scénario.

Le meilleur second rôle masculin est revenu à Dev Patel dans Lion, pour son interprétation de Saroo, un enfant de Calcutta qui a perdu sa famille et a été adopté en Australie mais revient dans son pays natal en quête de ses origines. L'acteur britannique s'est imposé devant Jeff Bridges (Comancheria), Hugh Grant (Florence Foster Jenkins), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals) et Mahershala Ali (Moonlight).
