OSCARS 2018: 774 nouveaux membres et votants invités
L'Académie des Oscars fait ce qu'elle peut pour se défaire de son étiquette de "club des vieux votants blancs" - qui ne lèvent un œil pratiquement que pour les films parlant aux vieux votants blancs. Au-delà de ses qualités cinématographiques, la victoire de Moonlight en début d'année, au héros homosexuel et noir, est-elle le signe d'une académie un tout petit peu plus ouverte et curieuse que par le passé ?
L'Académie a en tout cas invité un nombre record de nouveaux membres et votants: 774 personnalités ont été conviées cette année. Chaque année, à la fin du mois de juin, est communiquée la liste des nouveaux membres et votants. En 2015, 271 artistes ont été invités. En 2016, ce sont 322 artistes qui ont été conviés. En 2017, ce sont 683 nouveaux membres qui ont intégré l'Académie.
Parmi les "promus": les acteurs Aishwarya Rai, Monica Bellucci, Maggie Cheung, Adam Driver, Fan Bingbing, Elle Fanning, Golshifteh Farahani, Anna Faris, Gal Gadot, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou Ferrigno (!), Jon Hamm, Rinko Kikuchi, Janelle Monáe, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Poehler, Chris Pratt, Zachary Quinto, Kristen Stewart, Omar Sy ou encore Betty White (qui aura attendu 95 ans avant d'être incluse !), les réalisateurs Emmanuelle Bercot, Pedro Costa, Lav Diaz, Ildikó Enyedi, Amat Escalante, Jessica Hausner, Ann Hui, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Kim Ki-Duk, Kleber Mendonça Filho ou encore Brillante Mendoza, les musiciens Nick Cave, Lisa Gerrard ou Mica Levi, entre (beaucoup) d'autres.
